Kanazawa, a city that developed as the castle town of the Kaga Hyakumangoku domain, is rich in tradition.
The foundation was established in September 1991, based on a donation from Shigeo Yokohama, a native of Kanazawa, and Yokohama Steel Co., Ltd., with the aim of promoting Kanazawa's traditional culture. Since April 2012, it has operated as a public interest incorporated foundation, dedicated to the preservation and development of Kanazawa's traditional performing arts.
