A Valuable Research Record Exploring the Local Significance of Jizōson
Kanazawa, with its well-preserved traditional streets, is home to many Jizōson statues that have long been objects of faith for the local people. To pass down the origins and legends of these Jizōson statues to future generations, the Kanazawa City Jizōson Research Committee, made up of folklorists, was formed. The committee conducted field interviews and research on over 260 Jizōson statues, focusing on folklore perspectives such as Jizō faith and related rituals. The findings, which covered the entire city of Kanazawa, were compiled into a report and are regarded as an unprecedented and highly valuable contribution.

[Published in March 1997]
The results of a four-year field survey were compiled into an approximately 300-page report, which was published in March 1997 as Kanazawa City Cultural Heritage Bulletin No. 135. The report was distributed to libraries across the prefecture. This survey, conducted within Kanazawa City, is considered a rare and valuable resource in the region.

[Published in April 1996]
Based on the survey report of Jizōson in Kanazawa City, a pamphlet with a map was created to allow residents and tourists to easily visit these locations. The pamphlet was distributed for free to the public and received a very positive response.
